During his 14-year tenure as the President and CEO of Boralex, Patrick Lemaire took it upon himself to lay the foundations for the company’s future growth. He qualifies this experience as the biggest achievement of his career.

Patrick does not shy away from taking the helm, no matter how stormy the seas ahead. He is a natural consensus builder. He believes that bringing people together, inspiring them to do their best and supporting their growth are the key to a strong corporate culture. As such, he made it a point to encourage Boralex employees to show initiative, giving them the latitude to take on extra responsibilities and actively fostering creativity and innovation. These values were at the core of his leadership and continue to guide Boralex forward still today.

Patrick has a knack for recognizing and making the most of people’s strength, although he is keenly aware that the challenges facing Boralex in the current conjuncture are many and complex, from the differences inherent in the various jurisdictions where the company operates to the mounting competition across the sector. Patrick has been an ardent advocate for renewable energy from early on and will continue to be for many years to come. He feels strongly that strengthening Boralex’s development chain up to and including the project commissioning stage is what will ultimately take the company to the next level.

Contributing to Good Governance at Boralex

Although former CEOs don’t typically serve on their company’s board, Patrick decided to stay on to continue championing good governance at Boralex. His many years of experience in the renewable energy sector, not to mention his financial expertise, his in-depth knowledge of the company’s projects and his understanding of the market, make him a tremendous asset in this regard, and one that complements the qualifications of his fellow directors.
