An Award-Winning Clean Energy Innovation
The CanREA Innovation Award was presented on October 6 during the association’s annual gala, held as part of the Electricity Transformation Canada conference. This distinction highlights the exemplary contribution of the Hagersville project to the evolution of Canada’s energy landscape.
An Exemplary Indigenous Partnership
Developed in partnership with the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation, the Hagersville project demonstrates how economic reconciliation and local collaboration can go hand in hand with technological innovation. This partnership model is poised to become a benchmark for clean energy projects across the country.

A Process Rooted in Listening and Dialogue
The project reflects a tangible commitment to local communities. Following public consultations, the transmission line route was adjusted to align with local preferences — thereby strengthening trust, transparency, and responsiveness.
A Key Infrastructure for Ontario’s Grid Reliability
As Canada accelerates its path toward carbon neutrality, the Hagersville battery energy storage project demonstrates that innovation, equity, and sustainability can come together to build a more resilient energy future.
The Hagersville Park will have a flexible capacity of 300 MW / 1.2 GWh, capable of supporting Ontario’s electricity grid.
Thanks to this technology, it will help:
- Strengthen grid reliability during peak demand;
- Optimize the integration of renewable energy;
- Reduce reliance on fossil fuel sources.

Before Hagersville: The Tilbury Battery Energy Storage Project
In addition to the Hagersville project, we are also preparing to commission the Tilbury battery energy storage project by the end of November. Like Hagersville, the Tilbury energy storage project is built on a strong partnership model that enables the Walpole Island community to actively participate in the energy transition and benefit from the project’s economic impacts. Both the Hagersville and Tilbury projects reflect our commitment to inclusive energy development, grounded in dialogue with local communities.
