A Look Back at the 5 Highlights of 2025

A new year means new successes ahead, but it’s also the perfect time to look back.

2025 was a landmark year at Boralex, defined by several major milestones, most notably the unveiling of our 2030 Strategic Plan in June.

2025 in 5 Highlights

Limekiln Wind Farm in Scotland

01.

A Breakthrough Year in the United Kingdom

We commissioned our very first operating site in this promising market, the Limekiln wind farm, with an installed capacity of 106 MW, and secured ministerial approval for the Clashindarroch Extension wind project, representing 189 MW of installed capacity.

02.

Major Commissionings in North America

Several significant projects were brought online in North America. Symbolizing the revival of wind energy development in Québec, the Apuiat wind farm, a 200 MW project located on the Nitassinan (traditional territory) of the Innu First Nation of Uashat mak Mani‑utenam, was officially commissioned in October.

In Ontario, the commissioning of the Sanjgon battery energy storage system (80 MW), combined with the upcoming commissioning of the Hagersville project (300 MW), will position Boralex as Canada’s leading battery energy storage system operator.
The Hagersville project has also been recognized for excellence, receiving the CanREA Award for Canada’s Innovative Clean Energy Project of the Year.

Let’s also highlight the award of contracts for two solar projects totaling 450 MW in New York State.

03.

Even Greater Financial Flexibility

In particular, through the completion of over $1 billion in project financing and an increase in subordinated debt, in partnership with La Caisse and Fondaction, further strengthening Boralex’s financial flexibility.

04.

Strengthening Our Leadership Position in France

With the commissioning of two wind farms in the Hauts‑de‑France region, Boralex surpassed 600 MW of installed capacity in this region.

In addition, 125 MW of wind projects were selected through the PPE2 competitive tender process, making Boralex the leading winner in this round.
